Saturday Afternoon – Film at the Phoenix Cinema and Art Centre (The Reluctant Fundamentalist)

Saturday Night – Pubs : The Criterion Free House, The Rutland and Derby Arms and The Swan and Rushes

We always prefer cucumber sandwiches to curries but manage to 'force down' a curry on both nights (which is only reasonable in Leicester after all...)

Sign of old age is creeping in as we cut down on the amount of walking we normally do - due to David's dodgy hip and Pete's dodgy knee !

We reluctantly pay £13 each for entry to the Space Museum (which is just 'ok') only to discover that the Abbey Pumping Station next door is much better and.... free entry !

The last pub on Saturday night has a Bar Billiards table ..bringing back many happy memories of summer in 1985 playing Bar Billiards at UMIST

David is nearly tempted away from Nigel's employment when he gets a confirmed job as an Astronaut Space Engineer having taking the 'tests' at the National Space Centre.

We nearly miss the film at the Cinema as We are waiting for Steve in the car park and he is waiting for us in the hotel reception.

We have a strange breakfast on Saturday morning (see pic). Steve and Nigel's breakfasts arrive about half an hour after we have ordered but David and Pete's breakfast doesn't arrive until ....Sunday..

When discussing films, we realise that Google has taken the place of our collective memories.

Steve (to David after meeting him on Friday at 5.45): "I think it must be time to go to a pub ... after all , it is nearly 6 O'clock

Nigel: "I think we are going to have a good time this weekend"
David: "Indeed we are - and you and I need a discussion about switching power factor capacitors
 
Steve (at the Phoenix Cinema) : “are we having ice creams ?"
All: "No - dont think so"
Steve: "Well I am having one"
David: "Ok I think I will have one"
Pete: "Ok I think I will have one"
Nigel: "Ok I think I will have one"

Steve: "What annoys me is that you can still smoke in hotel rooms"
All: "No you can't -it is against UK law"
Steve: "No it isn't against UK Law - I know because I was at an hotel in Germany that allowed it..."

Nigel (to Steve): "So what technology does Russia export then ?"
Steve: "Pretty much nothing I think"
Nigel: "So why are you going on an all expenses business trip to Russia then ?"
Steve: "Well.... I have never been to Russia before..."

Steve: "I think the actor who played Sherlock is really good - what is his name ? Something like Benderdick Cumberland
